Preston St Mary is a quiet village just outside Lavenham, England's finest medieval village and food capital of Suffolk. Lavenham is a wonderful place to visit with interesting shops and galleries and great restaurants and pubs serving excellent food. An ideal place to stay for a break to explore Suffolk's countryside and coast. Welcome to Mortimer's Barn a converted 15th Century, thatched threshing barn set in the rolling rural beauty of Preston St Mary. This 4 star accommodation is on ground floor level and lies adjacent to the owners' main barn. The decor is an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture. Shop: 2 miles. Many other species of bird can also be seen from here: white doves that live in an ornamental dovecote, swift, swallow, house martin, pied wagtail, woodpeckers, owls, heron etc. There is a book for identification in the property. A recently constructed potager or ornamental vegetable garden makes another peaceful place to sit and the chickens that live here provide the eggs in the welcome pack.
